Troubleshooting downloads
Something not working? Find your problem below — each one has the likely causes and the exact steps to fix it. Most issues are solved in under a minute.
"Invalid link" or the link is not accepted
Common causes
- The URL is not a real Instagram reel, video or photo link.
- The link was copied incompletely (missing characters at the end).
- You copied a profile link (instagram.com/username) instead of a post link.
How to fix it
- Open the reel on Instagram, tap the share (paper plane) icon and choose Copy link — don't copy from the browser address bar of a profile page.
- A valid link looks like https://www.instagram.com/reel/ABC123/ — check it starts with instagram.com/reel/, /p/ or /tv/.
- Paste the link into a notes app first to make sure nothing was cut off, then paste it here.
"This content is private or unavailable"
Common causes
- The account is private — only approved followers can see its posts.
- The reel was deleted or the account was deactivated after you copied the link.
- The reel is age-restricted or region-locked by Instagram.
How to fix it
- Open the link in an incognito/private browser window. If Instagram asks you to log in, the content is not public and cannot be downloaded.
- Ask the creator to make the post public, or download a different public reel.
- If the reel opens fine while logged out, wait 30 seconds and try again — Instagram sometimes rate-limits requests.
Download button does nothing, or the file won't save
Common causes
- The browser blocked the download or the pop-up.
- On iPhone, the file went to the Files app instead of Photos.
- Low storage space on the device.
How to fix it
- Allow downloads/pop-ups for instoreels.com in your browser settings, then retry.
- On iPhone: open the Files app → Downloads folder → tap the video → Share → Save Video to move it to Photos.
- Check you have at least a few hundred MB of free storage, then download again.
The page is slow or the preview never loads
Common causes
- Weak or unstable internet connection.
- Instagram's servers are temporarily rate-limiting requests.
- An ad-blocker or privacy extension is interfering with the page.
How to fix it
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data and try again.
- Wait 60 seconds and retry — most rate limits clear quickly.
- Temporarily disable ad-blockers or strict tracking protection for this site.
The downloaded video has no sound or wrong quality
Common causes
- The original reel was uploaded without audio or in low quality.
- A very old reel may only exist in lower resolution on Instagram's servers.
How to fix it
- Play the reel on Instagram first — if it has no sound there, the downloaded file won't either.
- We always fetch the highest quality Instagram provides; if the source is 720p, the download will be 720p.
